Nicheless is the way. You can retroactively catalog your zigzag path (an Emerson term) into clear and legible piles, but there's value in, following devotion, or the heat, or whatever you want to call it, for at least half of your work. ie: even if you do niche down, half of your writing should still be unhinged and unpredictable. You definitely face an uphill battle when you don't niche down and commoditize yourself to be instantly groked through the pizza counters of the Internet, but if you truly lean into devotion for many years, people can pick up on some ineffable essence, and like you say, they can tell and will want to join in, and you're much more nimble and indestructible when you're rooted in an essence and not a product. Anyways just riffing. Enjoyed the essay! (and your about page too).

This was fun to read! Looking forward to more all-inclusive love, brick stacking, shit shatting, devotion, and (hopefully) contradictions!

I agree with Dolores! Although this is my first time meeting you and coming across your work, it feels like I was listening to you speak and not reading words. Your voice really comes through in this. Thanks for sharing!

hahaha I thought the same while reading your work. I honestly don't think I have a voice yet. I can't talk or think using first principles on the spot.
